Time is money – this also applies to the final assembly of equipment and machinery. Long wiring times increase production costs making quick solutions extremely attractive. Therefore, the E-T-A 3120-N and 3131 circuit breaker/switch combinations are equipped with suitable connectors, which help facilitate final assembly significantly. They keep you competitive by giving you a noticeable time boost.

Plug-in connectors save time and costs during final assembly

Despite modern connection technologies, such as push-in terminals and cage clamps, many circuit breakers are still fitted with screw and flat-bladed terminals for cost- and space-saving reasons. This means that a lot of manual work is still required during final assembly. To help reduce costs and save time, E-T-A provides matching plug-in connectors as accessories for the 3120-N and 3131 circuit breaker/switch combinations (order codes: Y312 140 01 for the 3120-N and Y31192901 for the 3131).

Thanks to these connectors, the connecting cables can easily be pre-assembled. The advantage: During final assembly, the circuit wiring is done in no time. The connector, which can accommodate up to six cables, can be plugged in with a single click without any tools – and that’s it. Two retaining clips ensure a firm connection.

The plug connection is based on the key-and-lock principle, which prevents incorrect insertion (Poka-Yoke principle). This ensures that wiring errors are excluded during final assembly. When the connectors are fitted, the cables lock irreversibly into the connector module, guaranteeing a stable and firm connection during the entire service life.

The connector also ensures that devices can be replaced quickly and easily. In this case, simply pull out the existing circuit breaker/switch combination and plug in a new one.

Cable assembly companies offer further saving potential. If the pre-assembly of the connector is outsourced to external cable assembly specialists, their production expertise can be utilised. In many cases, this means a further reduction in overall costs.

3120-N short profile

The E-T-A 3120-N circuit breaker/switch combination, available with either rocker or push button actuator, is a 1- or 2-pole thermal or thermal-magnetic circuit breaker that serves as ON/OFF switch on devices and machines. After tripping due to overcurrent, the 3120-N can easily, reliably and quickly be reset. Time-consuming fuse replacement is eliminated. It is usedin medical equipment, professional tools, and in the apparatus engineering area.

3131-N short profile

The E-T-A 3131 circuit breaker/switch combination is a 1- or 2-pole thermal circuit breaker that also serves as ON/OFF switch. Thanks to its integrated seal, it is protected according to IP66. Typical application areas are motorboats and sailing boats, as well as specialty and rally vehicles. It is also available as a 3-position switch.
